Portraits of the Savior | The Substitute Savior | Week 2

📖 Luke 23:18–25

An innocent man stood condemned… so the guilty could go free.

In Week 2 of Portraits of the Savior, we step into the tension of Luke 23, where the crowd chooses Barabbas — a known criminal — and rejects Jesus. In a powerful and sobering exchange, the guilty man is released, and the sinless Savior takes his place.

Barabbas walked free…

because Jesus took his place.

And in that moment, we see the heart of the Gospel on full display: substitution. Jesus didn’t just die — He died for us. He took the punishment we deserved so we could receive the freedom we didn’t earn.

This message invites us to see ourselves in the story — not as the innocent, but as the ones set free because of a Substitute.

✝️ He took our place so we could have His life.
