Herod's Hostility | Matthew 2:12, 16-18

An encounter with Jesus should change your direction.

After worshiping the newborn King, the wise men received a warning from God in a dream: don't go back to Herod. Instead, they returned home by another route. What seemed like a simple change of travel plans became an act of obedience that protected the promise of God.

Herod represents more than a historical king. He represents the voices, influences, and desires that seek to pull us away from God's purpose.

The wise men had a choice:

Return to what was familiar...

Or obey what God had revealed.

Their decision reminds us that when we truly encounter Jesus, we cannot go back the same way we came.
