Luke 23:9 - Then he questioned Him with many words, but He answered him nothing.

Herod questioned Jesus at length, but Jesus gave him no answer.
What a sobering moment.

Jesus wasn't silent because He lacked power. He was silent because Herod had repeatedly rejected truth.

Herod had heard John the Baptist.
Herod had heard the reports about Jesus.
Herod had countless opportunities to respond.

Curiosity had never become commitment.

Sometimes we ask God for more direction when we haven't obeyed the direction He's already given.
The issue is rarely a lack of information. More often, it's a lack of obedience.

Is there something God has already shown you that you've been unwilling to obey?

Prayer: Lord, give me a heart that responds to Your truth instead of merely listening to it. Amen.

Luke 23:8 - Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad; for he had desired for a long time to see Him, because he had heard many things about Him, and he hoped to see some miracle done by Him.

Scripture says Herod hoped to see Jesus perform a sign.

He wanted entertainment.
He wanted excitement.
He wanted to be impressed.

What he didn't want was repentance.

Sometimes we approach God the same way. We want Him to amaze us, solve our problems, or give us a spiritual experience. But Jesus didn't come merely to entertain us. He came to transform us.

A faith built on excitement alone will never last. Genuine faith is built on surrender and obedience.

Consider whether you've been seeking God's hand more than His heart.

Prayer: Lord, help me desire You more than what You can do for me. Amen.

When Herod saw Jesus, he was delighted. He had wanted to see Him for a long time because he had heard about Him.

Herod had proximity to Jesus, but not a relationship with Jesus.

It's possible to spend years around church, hear sermons, know Bible stories, and still never truly surrender your life to Christ. Herod knew about Jesus, but he didn't know Jesus.

Many people settle for information when God desires transformation.
The goal of the Christian life is not simply learning more facts about Jesus. The goal is becoming His disciple.

Ask yourself honestly: Am I merely learning about Jesus, or am I following Him?

Prayer: Lord, help me move beyond knowledge and into relationship. Draw me closer to You today. Amen.

Matthew 2:16 - Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.

Herod's actions were fueled by fear.
He was so determined to protect his kingdom that he missed the King standing right in front of him.

Fear has a way of distorting our perspective. It causes us to grasp for control and react instead of trust.

When fear sits on the throne of our hearts, it will always lead us away from God's peace.
The answer to fear is not more control. The answer is surrender.

Identify one fear you've been carrying and intentionally place it before God today.

Prayer: Lord, help me trust You more than I trust my own ability to control circumstances. Amen.

Matthew 2:16 - Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.

When Herod realized the wise men had not returned, he became furious.

The birth of Jesus should have been a reason for celebration. Instead, Herod viewed Him as a threat.

The reality is that not everyone will applaud God's work in your life. Some people are inspired by your obedience. Others are threatened by it.

Herod wasn't upset because Jesus had done something wrong. He was upset because Jesus challenged his position.

When God begins moving in your life, don't be surprised if opposition follows.

Don't measure God's calling by people's approval. Measure it by God's Word.

Prayer: Lord, help me remain faithful even when others misunderstand or oppose what You are doing in my life. Amen.

Matthew 2:12 - Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way.

The wise men came expecting to return to Herod. Instead, God warned them in a dream and sent them home another way.

Sometimes obedience means changing course.

The route that made sense yesterday may not be the route God wants you to take today. Following God requires sensitivity to His voice and a willingness to adjust our plans.

The wise men could have ignored the warning. They could have chosen convenience over obedience. Instead, they trusted God and went another way.

There are moments when God redirects our path—not because He wants to limit us, but because He wants to protect us.

Ask God if there is an area of your life where He may be leading you in a different direction.

Prayer: Lord, give me ears to hear Your voice and courage to follow wherever You lead. Amen.

Titus 2:14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
 
Jesus redeemed us and made us His own people—people who are eager to do good works.

Salvation is not the finish line. It's the starting line.
Grace was never meant to be the destination. Grace is the launch point.

God saved you for a purpose. He has placed you where you are to make a difference for His Kingdom.

The question is not whether God has called you.
The question is whether you're willing to go.
 
Ask God to show you one opportunity today to serve, encourage, or impact someone for Christ.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for saving me and calling me. Help me live on mission wherever You place me. Amen.

Titus 2:13: looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 

While we live faithfully today, we also live expectantly for tomorrow.

The Christian life is filled with hope because our future is secure in Christ.
No matter what challenges we face, we know Jesus is coming again.
That hope gives us strength for today.

Let the promise of Christ's return shape your perspective on today's challenges.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the hope I have in You. Help me live with eternity in mind. Amen.

Titus 2:12 -  teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 

Paul says believers should live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives.

The world doesn't need Christians who blend in. The world needs believers who stand out.
Different isn't always easy. Different isn't always popular.

But different is exactly what God has called His people to be. Consider one way your faith should influence your choices today.

Prayer: Lord, help my life reflect Your character in a world that desperately needs Your light. Amen.

Many people think grace simply means forgiveness.
Paul says grace does more than forgive—it teaches.

Grace teaches us what to leave behind and what to pursue. It shapes our attitudes, decisions, priorities, and relationships.

The goal of grace isn't merely to get us out of sin. The goal is to make us more like Christ. Ask God to show you one area where His grace is still teaching and shaping you.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for loving me enough not to leave me where You found me. Continue Your work in me. Amen.

Titus 2:11 -  For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 

The grace of God is not an idea—it is a part of who God is. Jesus Christ stepped into history so that salvation could be offered to all people.

The Christian life begins with grace. None of us earn it. None of us deserve it. Yet God freely offers it through Christ.

But grace is more than God's pardon. It's also God's power.

The same grace that saves us begins a work of transformation within us. Thank God today for His grace that found you before you ever sought Him.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the grace that appeared in Jesus Christ. Help me never lose the wonder of salvation. Amen.

The believers were filled with the Holy Spirit and continued speaking the Word of God with boldness.

Notice this: many of these believers had already experienced powerful moments with God before this passage. Yet here they were again, being filled again.

We all need fresh encounters with God.

Yesterday’s strength won’t sustain today’s battles forever. That’s why we continually seek His presence, His Spirit, and His power in our lives.

God doesn’t just want one moment with you—He wants daily relationship.
And when He fills us, He empowers us to keep going.

Take time today to slow down and ask God to renew your heart, strength, and spirit.

Prayer:
Lord, fill me again with Your Spirit. Renew my passion, strengthen my faith, and help me live boldly for You today. Amen.

After they prayed, Scripture says “the place where they were assembled together was shaken.”

Prayer moved something.
The early church didn’t just gather to talk about problems—they gathered expecting God to move. And He did.

Sometimes we approach prayer casually, without expectation. But prayer is more than routine—it’s an invitation for the power of God to work in our lives.

God still moves in praying churches.
God still moves in praying families.
God still moves in praying hearts.

Never underestimate what can happen when people genuinely seek Him together.

Pray expectantly today. Believe that God is still able to move in powerful ways.

Prayer:
Lord, increase my faith. Help me pray with expectation and confidence that You are still working today. Amen.

What’s amazing about this passage is what the believers didn’t pray for.

They didn’t pray for an easier life.
They didn’t pray for their enemies to disappear.
They didn’t pray for comfort.

They prayed for boldness.
That kind of prayer changes people.

Boldness isn’t loudness or arrogance—it’s courage that comes from trusting God. It’s the willingness to obey Him even when it’s uncomfortable.

God is still looking for believers who are willing to live boldly in faith, love boldly, serve boldly, and speak truth boldly.

Ask God to give you boldness in one area where fear has been holding you back.

Prayer:
Lord, fill me with courage and boldness today. Help me live for You without fear or hesitation. Amen.

The believers began their prayer by saying, “Sovereign Lord…”

That title matters.

They reminded themselves that God was still ruling and reigning even while the world around them felt unstable. The threats were real. The pressure was real. But God was still greater.

Sometimes our anxiety grows because our focus shrinks. We become consumed by the problem instead of remembering who God is.

He has not lost control.
He is not surprised.
He is not intimidated by what intimidates us.

The same God who held the early church together still holds your life today.

Spend time today focusing on God’s power instead of your problems.

Prayer:
Lord, remind me that You are still in control. Help me trust Your authority over every circumstance in my life. Amen.

The believers had every reason to panic.

They had been threatened, pressured, and warned to stop preaching about Jesus. But when they gathered together, their first response wasn’t fear—it was prayer.

Too often, prayer becomes our last resort instead of our first reaction. We try to fix things ourselves, manage the pressure, and carry the burden alone before finally turning to God.
But the early church understood something powerful: prayer changes the atmosphere.
Before they made plans, before they defended themselves, before they worried about the future—they prayed.

And God moved.

Whatever you’re facing today, don’t wait until things get worse to seek God. Pray first.

Before reacting to today’s stress, spend a few moments talking to God about it first.

Lord, teach me to make prayer my first response instead of my last option. Help me trust You with every situation I face today. Amen.
